Unclaimed funds are an amazing constantly growing source of money for your non-profit. Here are just a few ways that you could use this resource to benefit both your organization AND your supporters! When you give your volunteers access to money they didn’t know they had, you are helping them help you. Win-win.

  1. Search for unclaimed funds for your membership or supporter list and approach them to donate all or a portion of what you find for them.
  2. Send your lap-top equipped volunteers out to malls to offer unclaimed fund searches in return for a donation to your non-profit.
  3. Have a treasure hunt party. Charge an entrance fee, but let people keep whatever they find. Or, make entrance free, but request a percentage of found treasure. Make sure that every successful find is announced with plenty of hoopla. Pretend you’re in Vegas and have a blast!
  4. Look for money for your supporters’ businesses. See how much I found for hospitals.

I am sure that there are many more ways to use unclaimed funds in the support of a worthy cause. If you come up with a new idea, please let me know and I will add it to this list.

Meanwhile, if you’d like to contribute a small amount to my Paypal account to help me keep this site going, I would certainly appreciate it.
