Will the Swine Flu Pandemic Cramp Your Fundraising?

If the swine flu morphs into a pandemic, it will have a devastating impact on business worldwide. People will stay home on mass from work, school and public places, voluntarily placing themselves into quarantine in order to protect themselves from what may turn out to be a true worldwide catastrophe.
Even now, the appearance of facemasks on subways, planes and places of business is sending out a very clear message to everyone who sees them, “WATCH OUT FOR OTHERS! YOU DON’T KNOW WHOSE SNEEZE, WHOSE HANDSHAKE OR WHOSE KEYBOARD COULD INFECT YOU.”
The lifeblood of any fundraising organization is its networking. What will happen when networking events such as sports events, concerts and gala dinners have to be ditched? What will replace them?
Think Web 2.0 and on-line events. Think about helping your membership find money they didn’t know they had. Think about asking them to contribute part of the windfall to your organization through PayPal. Think about contacting me to put together a program for you.
Wash your hands. Stay out of crowds. Stay healthy.
